Ron Collins, DDS, MAGD
Meet Dr. Ron Collins
Dr. Ron was born in Henderson, Texas but grew up in Victoria and graduated from Victoria High School. He attended the University of Houston obtaining his Bachelor of Science in biology, then attended the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Collins has three children: Cara, Dath and Paul, and lives with his wife Sharon in west Houston where he has practiced since 1971.
Dr. Collins is Past President of the Houston Academy of General Dentistry and holds Fellowship and Mastership in the National Academy of General Dentistry. He has served the Greater Houston Dental Society on numerous committees and is Past President of the society. He is a Fellow in the International College of Dentistry and the American College of Dentistry. He has lectured and published many articles on various dental topics, including crown and bridge and aesthetic dentistry. He has completed over three thousand hours of continuing education in all aspects of dentistry. He has served as a missionary dentist in Kenya, Africa, Mongolia and in various locations in Mexico.
He is on the staff as an on-call dentist to West Houston Hospital, and is an active member in his community having taught seventh grade Sunday school and a support group for children of divorced families at Grace Presbyterian Church. His hobbies include golf, snow skiing, playing drums, amateur drama, traveling and fishing. For his numerous accomplishments in organized dentistry, education and community service, he was awarded the 2007 Dentist of the Year in Texas, considered to be the highest Texas award given to a dentist.
